Treatment is based on an evidence-based approach to care. Dr. Herring incorporates "best practices"
into treatment recommendations. Evidence-based approach includes treatment based on three important
concepts: (1) the best available scientific evidence, (2) clinical decision-making, and (3) patient values.
This approach to practice insures our patients that they are treated in a manner that will most likely
result in successful outcomes. Our patients, and those physicians and others who refer individuals to
our office, can rest assured that every effort is made to treat patients in this manner. When a referral is
necessary for diagnostic tests, or second opinion evaluations, we do not hesitate.
If Dr. Herring does not believe that your condition will respond to chiropractic care, you will be referred
to another physician.
When a patient is accepted for care, the initial treatment period is two to three weeks of a trial period of
care. At that point, the patient is re-evaluated and if the condition is responding then care continues. If
the condition is not responding, the treatment may be altered, further diagnostic tests may be ordered,
or a referral for either concurrent care or a second opinion is considered. Throughout the entire period
of treatment, re-evaluations are used to monitor response to care.
Most patients entering our office are treated and released. If you are struggling with a difficult case, or
you feel that spinal manipulation would be a favorable treatment option, you may want to consider a
referral to Dr. Herring.
Spinal manipulation works best for low back pain, leg pain, herniated discs, arthritis, mechanical back
pain, SI joint dysfunction, neck and arm pain, acceleration/deceleration injury, and headaches.
